Bridging the Gap: Maternal and Infant Health

Championing Mother and Child Health in SouthEast San Diego

In San Diego County, nestled amidst the hustle and bustle, a mobile clinic is making monumental strides in transforming maternal and infant health among communities of color. Steered by a passionate team of BIPOC healthcare professionals, JIREH Providers is dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and babies from the very beginning.

The Challenge

Racial disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes are stark and deeply concerning. BIPOC women in the United States are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than their white counterparts. Simultaneously, the BIPOC infant mortality rate is more than double that of white infants. The joy of welcoming new life is often overshadowed by these alarming statistics, and these challenges are further magnified by limited access to quality & culturally sensitive healthcare and education.

Our Response

Connecting the community to providers & resources that are for us & by us: Through our collective impact model we bring quality healthcare solutions right to the doorsteps of those who need them most. JIREH Providers extends an array of community connections – free mammograms, breast exams, drive thru maternal/infant events, & resources to prenatal/postnatal check-ups, nutrition advice to mental health support. Keeping our eyes on the ball, we focus relentlessly on reducing health disparities and ensuring that every child is given the best possible start in life.

Our Impact

With every empowered mother, every healthy baby, we chip away at the health disparities that have long burdened our communities. We’re not just health providers; we’re advocates, educators, and allies, all united in the journey towards health equity. Our team is on the ground, making a measurable difference in maternal and infant health, contributing to the decline in maternal and infant mortality rates in South East San Diego.
